About this collection

Frances Thornton (1928-2006) is celebrated as one of Battle Creek's most avid historians.

Thornton's historical research includes the downtown Mill Race Park, the life and accomplishments of Sojourner Truth, the Michigan Central Railroad Depot, which is now the restaurant Clara's on the River.

This collection was donated to the Kellogg Community College Archives by her son, Kurt Thornton.
